Before the Flood Link 2016 documentary film about climate change directed by Fisher Stevens. Debuted on National Geographic Channel on Oct. 30, 2016. The film shows Leonardo DiCaprio going to various regions all around the world to witness the results of manmade global climate change. I believe it is one of the best films made on this subject.
Chasing Ice Link Trailer for "Chasing Ice" film which won an Emmy award for outstanding nature programming
Earthlings Link Film about animal abuse
Gasland and Gasland2: By Josh Fox Link These films explain the risks to the environment, health and safety in areas being fracked. They discuss how so many of the chemicals being used in fracking have never been revealed to the public. The chemicals that are known to have been used are linked to cancer, birth defects, and disorders of the nervous system.
Green World Rising Link Series of short films on the climate crisis produced by Tree Media and the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation
The Best Democracy Money Can Buy Link This film investigates the interstate crosscheck program and how voter suppression techniques such as this contributed to the results of the recent election. Greg Palast also investigates the people behind this vote purging technique and why they put so much money and effort into promoting its use. This film explores how the gutting of the Voting Rights Act by the Supreme Court a few years ago and the Citizens United Case both gave foundation to perpetuating more and more of these voter suppression techniques in several key election states. Why this isn't front page news is beyond me. None of the mainstream media outlets would cover this story. This film is done in an entertaining way but the message and truth it reveals is morally reprehensible and deplorable in modern day America. I highly recommend this film. You can watch it on Amazon for $2.00.
The Mask You Live In Link This film explores what it means to be "male" in this culture and the negative expectations and consequences of this to both men and women. I think this film should be shown in every school to help educate ourselves out of this very harmful mindset in our society.
